Birkenstock shoes are actually a very popular brand in Germany where it originated. In spite of its humble looks, this comfortable style of flat sandals has grown to have a cult following world wide. However, when it first started out, the Birkenstock shoes were just a practical choice of footwear for working class people as not only is it very affordable for the masses, but it definitely serves the purpose of being a durable, reliable, and easy to wear shoes.Through the years though, the Birkenstock shoes have been exported from Germany to different parts of the globe where it also gained a loyal following. However, at the height of the Birkenstock trend back in the 90s, fashion experts have very much ridiculed the added footwear trend that was inspired by the Birkenstock shoes. People aren’t exactly sure who started it but somehow those who favored Birkenstock shoes ended up wearing the sandals paired with white sports socks. This certainly made for a very unlikely – and unsightly pairing, making fashion insiders and practical people the world over just cringe at the thought.
Fortunately though, as we leave that whole socks trend to the past, Birkenstock shoes are still able to capture the hearts of every practical shoe lover in different parts of the globe. To help give it a slight edge over other shoe brands out there, Birkenstock has even enlisted Germany’s favorite supermodel, Heidi Klum to design a special line of Birkenstock shoes for the company. This collaboration between Klum and the footwear company has revived the Birkenstock shoes as the practical, yet still hip enough for every day wear – even for the young ones.
